Totally Made My Day

So I have been out and about today. When I came home I checked my shop and saw that my Snowy White Owl Tote had been viewed a staggering 786 times. Now I just relisted this on Tuesday. Seemed a little odd. I checked CraftCult's front page vault...and it was true I was on the front page of Etsy today!!!! I missed it but Flickr has a photostream of screenshots of all the front page features...so here it is.

(That is me top row middle! The treasury was compiled by an admin...thanks whoever featured me!)

So sorry about the lack of posts. We've been out of town and I am burried in orders/creating new items/working on tutorials.

Next week I will be back to my regularness...hopefully. :)

Halloween Goodness

Yes...again I know it is July. :) I am just getting things ready in my shop because I am coming up to my busy time of year. Here are some of the latest additions...

A new Halloween Quiet Book...a lot simpler than the one I made last year. The kit and pattern are available here.

2010 Update - As of late August 2010, kits are available again in my shop.

So there they are my almost complete Halloween 'line'. I have yet to make the new Halloween Countdown Calendar, that is on the cutting table for next week. I also have some Thanksgiving things up my sleeves.

Tutorial: Appliqued Onesies

This weekend I whipped up a batch of appliqued onesies. (Among other things.) This is a great quick project that makes a great gift or a cute new top for your little one. Yes I know it is July and that I made a pumpkin one...a girl has to be prepared don't ya know.

There are tutorials all over the blogosphere that can tell you what you need and how-to. I am not in a 'recreate the wheel' mood plus, I didn't come up with the concept of appliqued onesies. Genius that person. Anywho...check out homemade by jill's recent entry if you need a general how-to. I heart her blog.

Three Tips:

• If you are like me and don't yet wash onesies on a regular basis...prewash your oneies...they shrink big time.
• I always try and use a pressing cloth (i.e. - a bigger scrap of leftover fabric) to put between my iron and fusible webbing. You don't want that gluely junk on your nice iron.
• I just zig-zag around the edges of my appliques...I like that look. You can do a satin stitch, but you have to think about it more.

Oh and if you want patterns of what I did let me know...I may post the pattern pieces if y'all are interested. Just kidding...here you go.

Dress Up

What kid doesn't love to dress-up?

I truly loved it as a child. There are many pictures of me in my various 'outfits' throughout my childhood. Halloween was a big deal in our house and my mom went to great lengths to insure we all had a Halloween costume we loved. (I plan on doing the same for our kids.)

As I grew up though my idea of dressing up for Halloween or other events drastically changed. Instead of a full on costume, my Halloween costume would consist of wearing jeans, a black top, with the addition of a hot pink feather boa along with some funky jewelry. Was I anything in particular? No. I just liked an excuse to wear some sweet accessories.

Well. As we know there is a big movie coming out on the 15th, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. (My 2nd favorite in the series...I love how Rowling does all the flashbacks/backstory...so awesome!) No. I will not be dressing up when we go to the midnight showing. I will leave that up to the other diehards. However. I figured hey...this is the perfect excuse for some sweet accessory. Right?

So this idea came to mind a few weeks ago and last night I took it from paper to fabric.

Close enough right???

So I know Hedwig is suppose to be 'snowy' white and I wanted her to be completely white but the bag needed some contrast. So that is why there is some gray and black incorporated into the bag. I love how it turned out! This one is for sale in the shop.
