But I do have a few fun things to share that I need some input on:
1. I've inherited something that I've been longing to have.
I have loved this little accessory of my mom's since I was a kid. It was always in our kitchen and it held all those common household items; rubberbands, twisty-ties, paper clips...you get the idea. I am ready to breathe some new life into it. I am thinking a a good sanding and a new paint color, but not sure which color. Any suggestions? At first I was thinking new knobs, but now I am loving the current ones.
2. Another inheritance from my mom.
This beautiful handmade infant dress. I of course want to keep this; and the three other I inherited. However, I don't want to stick them in a drawer or trunk. The only thought that has come to me is to display them in a shadow box. (Keeping the shadow box out of direct sunlight of course.) Any other suggestions?
So there. A very lackluster post for being MIA from the blogosphere for the past three week. Have I missed anything? I fully intend on being more productive in my shop and blog in the coming weeks. Lots of ideas popped into my head over the last three weeks...we shall see which ones actually come to be.
Thanks for reading, and hanging around... :)

Love the little drawers!!!
ReplyDeleteI still have my son's blessing outfit (heirloom made) hanging in my bedroom, from a nob on a shelf. :) He's turning 8 months old tomorrow, and the thing still needs to be washed, pressed, and put away...but I HAVE enjoyed looking at it hang all pretty like. :) Have fun with the shadow box!
Yay for little inheritances! If I had the drawers I would probably paint them white. It would also be fun to mod podge some cute fabric or scrapbook paper on them too to add some fun colors and patterns.
ReplyDeleteI've always liked the idea of having baby dresses hanging on the wall with a big pretty frame around it. Probably not that great for preseving, but cute.
good luck with whatever you chooose, can't wait to see the finished products!
Oh wow! I love those drawers just the way they are. Beautiful wood.
ReplyDeleteThose drawers are KILLER. I think I would probably leave them wood, and then maybe stencil something subtle like a diamond pattern or stripes or something over some of the drawers or just top, or just sides or something.
ReplyDeleteAnd that dress---wowwy. Lovely lovely.

And hey! I just saw my button there! Cool!
ReplyDeleteI have a similar gown on a tiny wrought iron hanger. It is hanging from a wooden chair and draped over the seat that I use as "decoration" most of the time or extra seating when we need it. I love to look at it and am glad that I decided not to put in away in the trunk.
ReplyDeleteAs for the drawers...i love the wood!
