New Patterns and Such

Today I am here sharing some fun new patterns with you all! I've been sewing up a storm lately and here are two new patterns that I hope you love as much as I do. When I made these projects for the first time, I had no intention on making them patterns. I shared them on Instagram and had lots of interest so patterns they became! Although I haven't been posting here, you can find me on Instagram sharing what I'm working on in my sewing room. You can find me @everydaycelebrations. I still plan to post here, but I will be sharing over on Instagram much more frequently.

First up is the Fairground Mini. This is a mini version of the Fairground quilt I made for the Moda Bake Shop. (You can find the original pattern here.)

Mini quilts are so fun to make! They are quick and oh so cute because of their size. Mini quilts make the perfect gift for a sewing friend to hang in their sewing room. Or you can make the a single block and add to bags, quilts, or other sewing accessories. Or if you have a little miss in your life, mini quilts make the perfect dolly quilt. Because dollies need cute quilts too!

Next is the pattern I'm really excited about. Say hi to the All Season Patchwork Pillow. (The pattern includes templates for both the Christmas and Halloween styles.)

These pillows are quick and the perfect project for the beginning sewer.  How cute would these make as a gift this holiday season? I promise they take no time to make and are a great way to personalize your holiday decor. This pillow has an envelope back which makes switching out a breeze!

Why am I so excited about this pattern? Well, I plan on making many more styles of this pillow for various occasions. Think Thanksgiving, Valentines, sport teams, etc.  I first made the Halloween style after I had a good pile of scraps after making a Halloween quilt. (More on that later.) I loved it so much that I knew I needed one for Christmas. Then I started thinking of the possibilities. There are a ton. So this is the plan. The future styles will all follow this basic pattern but you can come back to my blog and get the templates needed for the new styles for free! One pattern but endless styles and options! Fun right?

Well that's enough for tonight. I will be back soon with some more patterns and some free tutorials for the blog! Promise it won't be as long as my last break. ;)

Tutorial: April Showers Baby Quilt

Happy March! So I hate to say it but it has been AWHILE since I last posted. I am still here, but I've had other responsibilities as of late, none sewing related in the slightest. However, I am very happy to be sharing some of my latest sewing today on the blog.

If you click through, you'll notice I've been doing some cleaning and sprucing up on the blog. On the right sidebar are links to my tutorials, Pinterest, and Instagram.  I also added a link to all the quilts I've made to date. (Or at least the ones I've photographed.) I receive many emails, mainly from Pinterest pins, asking me about patterns, fabrics, etc for my quilts. So I hope this will help answer those questions!

Today I am here to share with you a tutorial I whipped up for the Moda Bake Shop. (I LOVE doing projects for them.) I made two little baby quilts using the wonderful new line April Showers by Bonnie and Camille.  The Baby Showers quilts are the same design, but each use a different placement of the blocks. To make each quilt all you need are 10 fat quarters, background yardage, backing, and binding.  They really are easy and quite a fun project! I hope you enjoy.

Happy Friday!

A Full Shop + More to Come!

Well, Believe has come and gone and it was a sparkling success! Thanks to you who came out and said hi and thanks to all those I met! I couldn't believe the crowd and I was one busy girl.

I sold out of most of my stock the first night, which was a total surprise! My banners were cleaned out before I could blink. However, I will have some up in the shop in the next week or two. (Definitely before Thanksgiving. Lots of sad faces when I said they were sold out. ) Here is one lone banner leftover from the boutique, you can find it here.

My advents were also gone in a flash. I was hoping to bring home a couple for the shop and had one lone Christmas Advent left, I made 15, and I listed it this morning and it was gone in 5 minutes.

There are two Thanksgiving Advents left and they are listed here.

So what's left?

Well like with all Craft Boutiques, some things sell and some don't.  I have some owl totes left.  Remember these cute guys?! It's been while since they've been in the shop and I am happy they're back. They really are fun to make.

Then there's the quilts. I actually sold one quilt at the boutique, my favorite one. It was a chevron quilt made from my last orphaned Bliss charm pack. It was another fun project, my first time working with Minky.  Will definitely be making more baby quilts with Minky. I was smart and at least snapped one photo.

There are four quilts left and they are listed in the shop. I love the aqua herringbone.

Then there's the stockings. These were a big hit in the shop two Christmases ago and I am happy to introduce a gray color to the mix. These are available now and I can personalize with whatever letters you need.

So there you go! That's what's left from the last four months of sewing/crafting and staying up way too late. It was a great weekend but now it's back to reality. What's first on my list? Really cleaning my house and potty training a two-year old. Wish me luck!

The Ones I Forgot

I realized the other day that I never shared two quilts that I made earlier this year. Both were made as gifts and are currently being greatly loved in their new homes.

The first quilt I made back in April/May for my sister's birthday. Funny story. Recently, I've started giving family baby quilts at baby showers/births. At my sister-in-law's shower last summer my sister said something to the effect of, I missed out! It looks like you have to have a baby to get one of your quilts! (She has 6 kids, her youngest is the same age as my oldest.) So I took note and decided to make her a birthday quilt on her next birthday. I included a note with the gift and said, "Because you don't have to be having a baby to get one of these!" She loved it.

The quilt is Piece of Cake 3 by Thimble Blossoms. I actually made it as part of Camille's class on Craftsy. Awesome class. I learned so much from her and my quilts have been better ever since. If you want to learn how to quilt I highly recommend it. (FYI: The class is a great deal. You get the class plus three quilt patterns all in the cost of the class.)

Next is a quilt I made for another sister-in-law who just had a baby boy.  I loved making this quilt, my favorite baby quilt to date. So simple and quick, just squares and HSTs (half-square triangles). I used lots of different lines in this quilt and they all came together perfectly.

Oh and because I have always wanted to take my own quilt stack picture....here it is.

I finally made, and kept, enough quilts to take one. There is the proof. I am a quilter. I love it.

So there you go! I have quilts on the back burner right now because I am getting ready for the boutique. I am making a couple of quilts for the boutique so I am itching to get started on those.

Hope you are having a Happy Wednesday!

Tutorial: Fairground Quilt {banner quilt}

I love banners. Love. I have one for about every holiday that I love to hang up on my mantel. (I'll have to get some pictures!)

At the beginning of the year, I sketched up this quilt and waited for the perfect fabric line. I originally wanted to make it out of Happy-Go-Lucky, but it was no longer available when I submitted this to Moda. So, I waited some more. Then I saw Scrumptious and I knew it was 'the one'. (Click here for the full tutorial over at Moda Bake Shop.)

I have to say this was a FUN quilt to make. I am finding I love to design quilts that have a variance from block to block. Maybe so I don't get bored making the same block 40 times. :) This quilt features four different blocks and I love how it turned out. The hardest part of this quilt was deciding on a border fabric. First I wasn't going to do a border, but then I thought it needed it, but I didn't want it to over power the blocks. So I went with a very small-scale print and hoped for the best.

Hope you enjoy this tutorial as much as I enjoyed making the quilt. You can find the full tutorial over at Moda Bake Shop. You also can see all my other free tutorials from the Bake Shop here.

Lately In My Sewing Room....

I've been playing with and falling in love with Scrumptious. Super fun project coming soon. (My picture doesn't do it justice.)

Scrumptious will be available in September/October. (That is actually a layer cake, it's just rolled up.)

I've been finishing this darling baby quilt.

This may be my favorite binding fabric ever. (And favorite baby quilt I've made.)  I may have bought this print in just about all the colors available for the specific purpose of binding quilts. (Print is Jump from Happy-Go-Lucky.)

I've been listening to Christmas music and working with these Christmas fabrics. I know...it's July...forgive me. (When you are working on a Christmas project how can you NOT listen to some Christmas tunes?)

Tutorial on the way....

I've been destashing my stash. Everything is up and listed! Yay! (Except for my Vintage Modern jelly roll...can't decide whether or not to part with it!)

Oh and making way too many treats. We've had lots of reasons to make treats lately. I may or may not have invented some of those reasons just to have treats.

So that is what's happening over here. Plus all the usual summer fun. Swimming, bbqs, fireworks, trying to avoid going outside in the 117 degree weather ... What about you?

I Guess You Can Call Me a Quilter

Not that I am denial or anything. :) However, all my posts lately have been about quilts and I always seem to have a quilt in the works so I think I can officially call myself a quilter. When I made my first real quilt back in 2005ish, I didn't think quilting was for me. I am so glad I gave it another try.

The main evidence that I am a quilter can be in this picture:

Yep, that would be two quilts basted and waiting to be quilted, with a third finished quilt top on top of the stack. Oh and a fourth quilt top that is currently hanging up in my sewing room.  I can't baste the two tops because I have to free up my basting pins from the other two quilts. You'd think that would encourage me to quilt those babies. Nope. Instead of doing that, the other evening when all was quiet, I played around with some fabrics and made these two blocks:

I seriously can't get in the habit of moving on to a new project when I have FOUR waiting to be finished. I will be better. Promise.

In my last post I shared a finished quilt top. Well here is the finished "family room" quilt as I've been calling it. The pattern is Happy-Go-Lucky from Camille Roskelley's quilting book Simplify. The fabrics are a combo from several different lines. (Mostly Bonnie & Camille from Moda.) If you've read my blog for any amount of time you know I use their fabrics and patterns kinda often. Like all the time often.  I should probably branch out a little more but they just make the best fabrics and patterns!

I will admit I was a little nervous mixing fabrics from different lines. In the end though, I absolutely loved it!  All the fabrics are Bonnie and Camille with the exception of a few generic yellow ones from Joann's. I love that gray and yellow pinwheel print.

This was the first time I used solid binding in a quilt, love it! It is Moda's Bella Solid in aqua. Such a good color. This is the largest quilt I've ever quilted, 63"x75", and this post helped me plan out my quilting so it didn't turn into a hot mess.

Love!

Now just to prove I do sew other things besides quilts, here are two skirts I made for my 3 1/2 year old daughter's Easter basket. Loved making the one with the apron. Such a fun little project.

I love sewing all sorts of projects, but I can honestly say that my love is quilting.

I love it.
