What I've Been Up To....

Well almost a week has past and Halloween is upon us. It has been whirl wind the last few weeks because of being almost done with this:

Along with making a book that involves these:

I am crossing my fingers that I get to the projects that involve these fabrics and trims:

So pretty!!!! I just need the other red fabric.

Hopefully I will be posting the items very soon in the shop.

Oh. And I am enjoying the beautiful season that is autumn far too much. :)

Phew. I am tried after writing this post. It is going to be a fun weekend! What am I doing blogging?!?!? I need to get to work...

Oh and Happy Halloween. (Since the Halloween buying season has pretty much ended, I am thinking "Halloween was so last two weeks ago"...Christmas is now on my brain.)

Bye!

A Little Friday Fun For You!!!

With Halloween a week away, many of us will be deciding what to pass out to Trick or Treaters. This hilarious article was on yahoo the other day and I couldn't help but post it here.

On Halloween night, some houses struggle with the idea of candy. There are good houses, and there are bad houses. The best trick-or-treaters know to avoid the latter. At the food site Serious Eats, we all love Halloween, but wish certain homes would just stop handing out the classically bad "treats." They weren't good last year, the year before that, or now. Our own Erin Zimmer put together this list of our top 10 Halloween treats that nobody wants...
Toothbrushes

Dentists and orthodontists should not be allowed to celebrate Halloween if they're going to get all tooth doctory on us. Do not bring your work home with you, folks! We all have a personal responsibility to brush, and maybe some of us will forget, but your complimentary bristles on a stick (instead of a Snickers) will not help us remember. It will make us despise you and your
trade.

Raisins
Little boxes of stuck-together shriveled globs are not what little kids schlep around the neighborhood for all night. When they say trick-or-treat, they want candy that will rot their teeth, not wrinkled grapes. (Using an empty box as a kazoo-like instrument, though, is kinda fun.)
Candy Corn

The most polarizing candy of all. The fruitcake of Halloween; it just never goes away. If you love them, fine. But don't subject the rest of us haters to the sickeningly sweet triangle that tastes like neither candy nor corn.

Smarties and Necco Wafers

These chalky candies are supposedly "fruit-flavored," but no fruit I know tastes like dust -- and makes everything eaten after taste like dust, too.

Dum Dum Lollipops

Usually, foods on a stick are yummy (corn dogs, ice pops), but Dum Dums just can't be included on that list. Not even if they were breaded and deep-fried and served at a fair.
Apples

Long before "poisoned candy" scares, evil people were handing out apples instead of candy on Halloween. This disappointing "treat" is the main reason to avoid unwrapped food while trick-or-treating.

Tootsie Rolls

It looks like chocolate and sort of smells like chocolate, but the mini brown tubes are not real chocolate. They taste like watered-down chocolate, and have a chewy texture that will strip the fillings right off your molars.

Miscellaneous, Wrapped Hard Candies

Halloween is supposed to be a holiday for young people, not senior citizens who suck on hard candies all day. Something about the strawberry-shaped strawberries, gold-wrapped butterscotch, and peppermint feels past the expiration date. (These usually get set aside for Granny.)

Laffy Taffy

I do not laffy when I get these. I sobby. I get depressedy. Because it gets all stucky to my teethy and doesn't even taste that goody.

Anything Fun-Sized

Who started calling it this? Since when is one bite fun?! Give us the rich houses with the sprawling driveways and full-sized candy bars any day. Portion control doesn't need to start this young. (My opion: Fun sized are fine, they get enough to equal a whole lot of full-sized candy bars...but that is just me.)

So go buy some wickedly good candy for those little ghosts and goblins coming your way.

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Ballard Designs

So what did I behold in my new Ballard Design catalog? These divine stockings.

Actually, I am not wild about the shape, fabric, colors, or anything really about them, well except for the RUFFLE. Loving it. Don't be surprised if you see that style sneaking its way into my design plan. I am crossing my fingers that my stocking fabrics arrive in the next week or so. I love my fabric coop but the only downer is the wait for the fabric. (Not that I am complaining by any stretch, just more anticipation than anything....)

Happy Wednesday!!!!

Do You Think I Went A Little Overboard?

So Joann's had their felt on sale...here is my stash.

Okay...I'll be honest...that isn't all of it.

Do you think I have a problem??

Quilt Giveaway...My Giveaway...Things to Come

There is this radical (did I just use radical?) quilt giveaway here. I am in love with that quilt and the colors...so fall...so sweet. It makes me want to change my favorite color from red to yellow. That road with the leaves and the chair...ohhh...I so want to go there.

The winner to my giveway over at 30Days was announced and it was Shay! Yay for her!!! I hope she likes the Quiet Book. :)

I will be back hopefully today, crossing my fingers, with some new items for the shop. All I can say is...it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my sewing corner. (I am a living testimony that you don't need a fancy studio to create beautiful things. My tiny apartment's kitchen goes from kitchen table to sewing studio extraordinaire in a matter of minutes.)

Make Your Table {Spookalicious} This Halloween

Make your kitchen table truly 'spookalicious' this Halloween with a great runner.

There is a great tutorial on the Purl on how to make quick napkins, table runner, or table cloth using the same technique. It is super quick and on requires little prep. I've made two runners using this technique and you honestly can't mess it up. So go grab some fabric, a cutting board, and an iron and get sewing! (This would also be a great holiday gift.) If you don't read the Purl's blog...you are missing out.

Giveaway Time!!!

Happy Friday everyone!
I am so glad it is Friday...I love them!!!
So what a better way to start it off than with a giveaway right?!?!

Mique over at 30days was kind enough to feature me and do a giveaway!!!! (She has an awesome handmade blog...been a fan since it started last Christmas.) So head over to this post to get your chance to win my Halloween Quiet Book. (You need to leave a comment on that post in order to be entered into the giveaway.) You can also check out my other items in my shop by going here. So thanks Mique!

Christmas items are coming....stay tune. (Oh and a couple more Halloween things...)

And I Present, Captian Indecisive...

So I am in LOVE with the following fabrics. I ordered the first one but I am hemming and hawing over the rest. These will be used for some of my shop's Christmas items!!! I also have an ultra vintagey Christmas item in the works...I hope you like it!

I digress. Fabrics. Which one do you like more? Or are you like me and like all. Sometimes I can be super indecisive.

#1 I heart this...I love red you will all soon learn. :)

These are some of the coordinates. I am more than likely getting some of the green.

What about these two do you like one more than the other or are they just "meh"?

#2 This is the one I am hemming and hawing over. I am in love with it because of this dress on Etsy. Sadly I don't have an adorable little girl to dress up in that dress...but to me the fabric just screams "POSSIBILITIES"!

So whatca all think? I know you are out there. ;)
